Arnab Dey, a senior at Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, was recognized with a second place award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Dey was awarded $1,500 in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering category for his project Novel Oral Drug Inhaler Design to Optimize Drug Deposition in the Lungs. 

The ASMSA Wind Ensemble presented the 16th Annual Spring Concert May 10 in the ASMSA Dining Hall. The theme was Just Some Old Time Rock n’ Roll and selections included “Louie Louie”, “Born to Be Wild”, “Evil Ways” and “Old Time Rock and Roll.” 

ASMSA held its honors convocation on Friday, April 29.

Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts will hold its graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21 in Summit Arena at the Hot Springs Convention Center. There are 86 students in the Class of 2011, representing 35 Arkansas counties.

Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts students took two of the top prizes in the state Science Fair and the top three prizes in the state Junior Academy of Sciences competition. The school also won the Overall Team award and the Class 7A Team award at the state Science Fair, which was held April 1-2 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Students from Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts participated in the 2011 University of Arkansas High School Programming Contest on March 12 at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The contest is hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering and sponsored by the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and by Acxiom.
